VĀNE PARISH

The parish of Vāne is located 20 kilometers from the center of Kandava county. Parish is bordering with the counties of Saldus, Brocēni, Kuldīga and parishes of Matkule, Zemīte, Zante and Kandava. The most significant rivers are Imula, Amula, Sārcene.

Total area of the parish: 16596,7 hectares.

Inhabitants: 891 (data from 01.03.2018).

Vāne could be described as a farming parish – it consists of LLC, farms and sole traders. Main industries are agriculture and dairy farming. Part of the entrepreneurs deals with beef farming. A farm called “Birznieki” works in an untraditional industry as goat breeding and produces various assortment of cheese products. Farm “Ziedkalni” is a fishery producer and owns ponds in size of 38 hectares. They grow carp, tench and pike. But starting from early spring until late autumn farm “Sarmas” rejoices with assortment of roses.

In the parish of Vāne LLC “PINDSTRUP LATVIA” obtains, develops and realizes turf.

Culture

In the beginning of august parish celebrates it's annual festival, which is combined with sports festival and cemetery festival

With the participation of regional amateur collectives in the local bandstand beautifully celebrated are the Summer Solstice events

Amateur collectives: female vocal ensemble “Par to…”, amateur theatre of Culture House, preschool dance collective and female club “GUNNA”, which by developing and implementing several projects is trying to promote the welfare of the inhabitants of the rural municipality.
